KastKing Reveals New Zephyr Bait Finesse System Reel

KastKing creates Zephyr skipping and pitching bait finesse baitcasting reel specifically for BFS fishing.
October 15, 2020 — Garden City, Long Island, NY) KastKing announced today that the brand is a player in the burgeoning Bait Finesse System (BFS) American market by introducing the KastKing Zephyr BFS baitcasting reel. BFS originated in Japan and is popular for angling there and in other Asian countries. It was developed for largemouth bass fishing in highly pressured areas with smaller, lighter lures and fishing lines.

To support the use of lighter terminal tackle the Zephyr uses an extremely lightweight (9 gram) and shallow spool made for use with light weight lines from 4 to 8 lb test. KastKing Zephyr gives anglers a choice for making accurate, short range casts using light line and extremely light baits down to 1.5 grams, or filled with heavier line it can be used for high velocity, low trajectory skipping and pitching around docks and heavy cover.

Zephyr BFS reel’s entire frame and side covers are made of extremely light weight carbon fiber. The entire reel weighs only 160 grams/5.6 ounces. A combination of light weight, small palmable size, and extreme strength, allow this baitcaster to work for bait finesse applications or to pull large fish from heavy cover.

KastKing designed the Zephyr Skipping And Pitching Bait Finesse Baitcasting Reel with an eight-magnet braking system, 6 + 1 extreme speed (for less resistance on spool rotation start up) double shielded stainless steel bearings, and 4 carbon fiber drag washers intended for light line use providing 10 lbs. of drag in addition to its shallow high-speed BFS shallow aluminum spool. KastKing uses a hardened aluminum alloy drive gear to reduce overall weight to 5.6 ounces and a high strength brass pinion gear for reel longevity. Zephyr has a high-speed gear ratio of 7.2:1 that reels in 29.8” of line with each turn of its aluminum handle. As one would expect with a shallow spool, fishing line capacity is less than a typical baitcasting reel. Although, in a short casting game that’s not an issue. Monofilament line capacity on the KastKing BFS is: 4lbs/75 yds, 6/65, 8/50. Metric 0.165mm/70m, 0.205mm/60m, 0.235mm/50m.

KastKing Zephyr Skipping And Pitching Bait Finesse Baitcasting Reel have a $69.99 MSRP for right hand and left hand models. They are available at amazon.com. Zephyr is the fourth new KastKing fishing reel released during October.
