When former Forrest Wood Cup champion and all-around good egg Justin Atkins checked in with BassFIRST, a lively conversation ensued.
Topics ranged from what in the world is happening with the Kardashians, to Major League Fishing, to why an Alabama guy went to Mississippi State. None of that will be shared here, since it was all “off the record”. Instead, check out a couple of the questions Justin answered for your reading pleasure.

DL – What is your favorite thing about being a professional angler?

JA – The generic answer is that I get to fish for a living, but there is more. Not one thing is my favorite about it.
I really like all the time I get off so I can go deer hunting. I get to travel and see a lot of new places and experience lots of cool stuff. I always wondered what it would be like to do this full time. I am grateful I can make my living fishing.
DL – What is your favorite driving food?

JA – Chick-fil-A, at least for 6 out of 7 days per week since they’re closed on Sundays. It’s one of those fast food places you can feel good about eating. The product is tasty and pretty healthy. There is an awful lot of very unhealthy food to choose from when you’re driving long distances.
When I was at Mississippi State I would eat the spicy sandwiches a lot, not so much anymore. I get the Number 1 with mayonnaise.
