A full field of 75 boats launched out of Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin at 7 AM this morning  in the first 2013 NABC Bass Tournament. The Bay is famous for its smallmouth  and didn’t disappoint despite a tough bite, with fish to 6# 11 ounces coming to the scale.

A big cold front rolled across Lake Michigan this morning bringing cool temps and winds approaching 20 MPH out of the Northwest, making travel difficult for those who wanted to fish South. Many of those teams had trailers brought to them instead of making the ride back in rough seas, either giving up the weights they had or calling in a zero.

The Teams who stayed relatively local did very well considering, rolling or dragging tubes in the river channels or pitching Senkos or jerk baits.  There was almost a 4 pound average for 5 fish all the way to 20th place.

Corrao and Stefan took first with 27-15 taking home $15,000.00 in cash and prizes. Brandt and Nipper took second with 25-15, Rowe and Schlapper took third with 24-7, fourth went to St. Clair and Hartwig with 24-6. Rounding out the top 5 was Ourada and Allen with 23-13.

See the results at the NABC website.
