CAMDEN, S.C. (May 12, 2010) – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Wateree May 22 for the fourth of five stops in the South Carolina Division series. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“I would stick with offshore bank fishing,” said Chevy pro Anthony Gagliardi of Prosperity, S.C., who has a BFL win on Lake Wateree and has over $1 million in pro career earnings. “The fish are going to be post spawn and getting ready to move into deeper water, I would concentrate on those transition areas in about 10-15 feet of water; I would be flipping jigs and soft plastics around piers and docks.”

Gagliardi added that Wateree is a river lake and that anglers should be watching out for big fluctuations in water levels this time of year; the rapid change in depths can really throw some anglers off their game.

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Clearwater Cove Marina located at 2029 Baron Decalb in Camden, S.C. Takeoff is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

Bass Fishing League competition is a 24-division league circuit devoted to weekend anglers, that offers even bigger prizes to qualifiers of the regional championship and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
