AFTCO Open Shakes Up School of the Year Standings

Adrian College’s Lead Narrows  as 12 Schools Move in Top 25

SAN ANTONIO, TX (November 1, 2019) – Event number two of the 2019-2020 season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series is in the books. During this past weekend, 350 college anglers representing more than 40 different schools competed on Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Arkansas in the AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open. Being an Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) run event, teams had the opportunity to earn points for their highest two finishing teams inside the top 100. The Top 25 standings in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia saw quite the shakeup as a total of 12 teams either broke into or moved up in the standings.

Here is a look at the teams that moved into the Top 25 this week:

14) Arkansas Tech University (Prev. 35)
15) University of Louisiana-Monroe (Prev. 42)
21) Northeastern State University (Prev. 28)

Adrian College continues to lead the chase for Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. With an 11th and 19th place finish at the AFTCO Open, the School of the Year leaders earned a total of 1,720 points. Heading into the AFTCO Open, they carried a 530 point lead over second place McKendree University. That lead has now been chiseled down to only 370 points.

The Defending 2019 School of the Year Champions, McKendree University, earned the most points of any school competing in last weekend’s event. McKendree had teams finish 5th and 9th overall to tally up 1,880 points. The most possible points one school could earn following the AFTCO Open was 1,990. It is important to note that Adrian and McKendree were positioned in first and second place respectively exiting this same event just last fall.
