Tacoma, Washington (July 6, 2022) – Gamakatsu® releases a pair of Krakens to handle Monster fish. Gamakatsu specifically developed the Monster Kraken Circle hook for anglers using larger chunk baits to tackle a range of freshwater and saltwater fish. Meanwhile, the Kraken Outbarb Circle hook offers a distinctive design with superior holding power. Both hooks provide great features.
The circle hook is a time-tested and proven design, and the wide gap on both Krakens ensures reliable hinge hook-ups even with the largest jawed fish. Their monster-sized eye provides anglers a range of rigging options, including heavy tuna cord, mono, fluoro and even wire. Meanwhile, the straight-eye design offers the option of snelling or crimping.
Available in 14/0 and 16/0, the Kraken Circle Monster is made for use with larger chunk baits and provides the strength and size to target giant fish. The Kraken Outbarb Circle’s distinctive outside barb offers several advantages. One is straight holding power because the outbarb cannot back out like a traditional barbed hook. Hook damage typically occurs on the opposite side of the hook, further reducing potential pull-out. Another is better, easier penetration because the barb is opposite the side of the hook doing most of the work. It’s also less likely anglers’ line will catch on the barb if it wraps around the hook on the drop or cast.
Like all Gamakatsu hooks, the Kraken Series is built of premium grade high carbon steel to ensure against blemishes in the metal that can weaken a hook. Gamakatsu’s advanced tempering system heats every hook to the exact optimum temperature for each particular style and size, then cooled in oil, producing the perfect balance between strength and flexibility. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, their sharpening process is the most modern in the world and results in a perfectly conical point unequaled in sharpness. The Krakens then are coated with a NS Black corrosion-resistant finish for long-lasting reliability.
