FRABILL: THE SECOND GREATEST TOOL ON EARTH

Plano, IL (September 29, 2015) – It’s often said that the greatest tool on earth is the human hand. Impossible to disagree, aside from maybe a numbed, frostbitten paw that can’t thread line through a jig eyelet. But next to functioning digits, to the ice angler, one has to say the second greatest tool is the fishing reel. If it seizes-up the game is over. Drag malfunctions during battle? Kiss your dinner goodbye.

Reel failure, says Frabill ice-fishing-visionary Brian “Bro” Brosdahl, is unacceptable. And putting design input where his mouth is, Bro collaborated with Frabill’s engineering team to fashion the new Bro Series Spinning Reel.

Sexy and sleek, the Bro Series Spinning Reel churns like butter on a 5 + 1 ball-bearing system, fully smothered internally with Frabill’s exclusive Sub-Zero® lubricant. Off-the-shelf reels – even the spendy brands – that aren’t lubed for winter temps will sputter, stutter and eventually freeze to a halt.

“The reel is incredibly well machined,” says the man whose trusted name is stamped on the entire Bro Series. “The line winds on smooth and straight, delivering a high-end performance at a great price.”

Frabill’s precision parts also account for the Bro Series Spinning Reel’s fluid drag system. “The drag is silky smooth,” says Bro. And with a fish on the run – sensitivity in your hands dulled by the cold – a reliable drag-system makes all the difference. Technically speaking, the front-loading drag operates on multi-discs (good thing) interlaced with a machined aluminum spool. To that, the drag knob is tapered to eliminate line catch. (Primitive square knobs are notorious for snagging line.)

The reel handle itself is thoughtfully crafted, too. With L/R ambidextrous capabilities, the deluxe handle folds easily for transport in a Frabill rod storage case. And with infinite anti-reverse, the reel never clunks or free-spins backwards, giving you the upper-hand on the hookset.

Supremely, the Bro Series Spinning Reel comes packaged with both deep and shallow arbor spools. The deeper carved spool better accommodates heavier line (6lb. mono and up), while the shallower version welcomes lighter lines to service finesse fishing.

Bro Series Spinning Reel
  • 5+1 ball bearing reel
  • Includes shallow and deep arbor spool
  • Deluxe quick fold handle
  • Machined aluminum spool
  • Infinite anti-reverse
  • Multi-disc, front load drag
  • Sub-Zero® lube for smooth operation in coldest temperatures
  • Tapered drag knob for reducing line catch
  • L/R ambidextrous handle

Given a choice, Bro would willingly replace a hand with one of his namesake reels. The average angler, however, can simply grab a couple reels off the shelf and avoid the whole Six Million Dollar Man surgery.
