The BassEye is a popular one day bass and walleye catch-and-release tournament that in 14-years has helped to raise millions of dollars for a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Big things are expected for anglers, sponsors and guides at this year’s 15th annual BassEye Celebrity Challenge, taking place June 23 – 24 on Lake Erie.

The tournament was founded by former B.A.S.S. tournament pro Capt. Jim Hanley, a premier Lake Erie guide, and Bob Rich, an avid angler, five-time author and one of the world’s most successful businessmen. As an angler and sponsor Rich was inspired by the Redbone Celebrity Fishing Tournaments in the Florida Keys, raising research funds to cure CF.

Rich said, “We’ll have a kickoff party including a dinner with an exquisite cuisine, a band and a very lively auction on Thursday evening, June 23, at Rich’s Atrium. Then Friday morning we’ll meet at Buffalo’s Safe Harbor Marina, for a day of fishing and a dockside awards dinner.”

The BassEye contacts are Gia Coone, [email protected] , CF Foundation Chapter Executive Director of the Western N.Y. and Rochester Chapters, and development director Tiffany Rollek, [email protected] */// –>. The CF office is 716-204-2535716-204-2535 and website is BassEye.org.

Bob also hosts the Redbone series’ 15th Golden Isles Red*Trout on St. Simons Island, Ga.

With fishing as back drop, Rich’s new novel receiving high reader reviews

Rich is also making news for his new novel Looking Through Water which continues to earn verified 5-star reader ratings on Amazon.com.

He’s also the author of four popular non-fiction books, three of them on fishing.

“I’ve always wanted to do a novel,” he said. “Looking Through Water is set against backdrops I’ve always loved; fishing, Manhattan, the Adirondacks and the Florida Keys.”

“It’s a love story and an action adventure story, filled with conflict, emotion and healing. It’s a great coming of age tale and since it’s the Keys, it has fishing too; all the elements for a good story,” Rich said. “Inventing colorful characters and plot twists was great fun and I’ve enjoyed reader’s reactions.”

Looking Through Water is also available on BN.com and at BobRichBooks.com.

Ever the philanthropist, Rich’s novel benefits Project Healing Waters, helping injured veterans and active military heal from physical and emotional wounds through fly fishing.
