Mature bucks are usually hard to come by, but during the last weeks of the season the rut gives hunters a much better chance to score.
For Alabama hunters who are more interested in trophy racks than venison, the last weeks of the season are often best.
While the abundance of does early in the season makes it easier for meat hunters to score, spotting a wary mature buck is usually best done sometime between New Year’s Day and the end of the season, Feb. 10 in 2019.
