In early December, County Deer Advisory Councils (CDACs) will be making recommendations on deer population objectives for the next three years. Some county councils have open seats, and we need folks just like you, yes YOU, to help fill them today!

Have you ever wanted to play a key role in making local deer management decisions? Would you like to represent the opinions of your community in determining deer season structures, population objectives and antlerless quotas? How about learning to review and consider scientific information on deer herd trends, impacts to habitat and agriculture and human-deer interactions? In Wisconsin, you can!

Individual council members represent agriculture, forestry, tourism, transportation, local government (urban), hunt clubs and the Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) while working with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to provide input on current and future deer management decisions. Every member plays a vital role representing the diverse needs of the county, and having a complete council ensures that the best possible deer management recommendations are provided.

Visit the DNR website to learn more about the councils, view the current list of members in your county and to apply for a vacant seat.

Thank you for your interest in Wisconsin deer management!
