Shane Turcotte, NPAA member #452 and his partner Greg Ryckman went from 4th to 1st on Day 2 in the Northern Ontario Walleye Trail sanctioned event in Kapuskasing to collect $10,000 cash.  Their total weight for 2 days was 31.05 lbs.  This tournament was a catch and release format that allows 2 fish over 18.1 inches each day and 4 unders.  This is both their first win on the Northern Ontario Walleye Trail.  They each collect some much needed points for the Angler of the Year race.

Turcotte mentioned they were on big fish all week during prefishing and wondered if the pattern and bite would hold up going into the tournament.  As it turns it did, each day their weight was anchored by a 7+ lb walleye.  Turcotte credited Northland Tackle’s #6 holographic gold shiner blade tipped with Berkley’s gulp 5 inch pumpkinseed wacky worm on a harness and Offshore Tackle’s OR12 planer boards as the key to their success.  Turcotte also wanted to thank his following sponsors for their continued support: Crestliner Boats, Northland Tackle, Offshore Tackle, Reef Runner and The Clam Corporation.  Turcotte’s next event will be Cabela’s MWC event in Sault Ste Marie August 26-28.”
