PWT Expands to Canada in 2007

The City of Dryden in partnership with the Dryden District Chamber of Commerce and In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) are proud to host the prestigious PWT tour July 25-27th, 2007.This is the first time that the tour has been to Canada. The Elite Super Pro Tournament will bring the best competitive pro walleye anglers to Dryden where they will explore the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes The Wabigoon system with its many bays and attached lakes like Dinorwic Lake, will present the ultimate challenge to Super Pros. Only one Super Pro angler has ever fished Wabigoon, and thats Drydens John Butts. He said, “Some of the biggest walleyes of the season will come from Wabigoon. Its a shallow system and every tactic known in the walleye-world will be used.”Under the Super Pro format, the top 60 PWT pros will be invited. Butts is a past winner on tour, and he will be joined by pros Gary Roach, Mike Gofron, Gary Parsons, Keith Kavajecz, Mark Martin, Tommy Skarlis, Marty and Scott Glorvigen, and the ‘big boys’ of the walleye world. The pros share their boats, gear, night crawlers, tackle and fishing hotspots with their amateur partners. The PWT is a Pro-Am, and even though amateurs enter separately, they are drawn into the pro’s boats, and fish with them for a combined boat weight. Amateurs fish with a different partner each day. Amateurs win based on the weights they accrue for three days. The amateur-winner takes home a $15,000 walleye boat and outboard. Top places on the amateur side win trolling motors from MotorGuide and MinnKota, Lowrance hand-held GPS units, gift certificates from major tackle companies, Mercury outboards, Aqua-Vu cameras and more. Only 60 Super Pros will fish Wabigoon, and that means the first 60 amateurs who sign up ($750 US is the amateur entry fee), will fish. Entry blanks will be available soon locally and from the PWT.
