NPAA member Greg Karch #138, Tim Euting #789 and Bill Van Ornum #801 hosted a Future Angler Event for the cub scouts of Pack 3045 and 3074 at St. Gabriel’s Elementary School in Neenah, Wisconsin.  Fishing educational stations were setup where the NPAA member worked with the cub scouts and reviewed the following: safety, open- and closed-face fishing combos and how to cast each of them, fishing identification, knots, bait, parts of a fish and fishing techniques.   Near the end of the event the AIS message was reviewed, of ‘Clean, Drain and Dry’.   Nearly every cub scout went home with a fishing related item, thanks to sponsors of the event.<table border=”0″ cellspacing=”0″ cellpadding=”0″ width=”250″ align=”right”><tbody><tr><td rowspan=”2″><img src=”http://assets.outdoorsfirst.com/images/pix.gif” border=”0″ alt=”” width=”5″ /></td><td><img src=”https://assets.outdoorsfirst.com/images/a_5714_0424131.jpg” border=”0″ alt=”” /></td></tr><tr><td><div class=”caption” align=”left”><strong>Caption Title</strong> (Credits)</div></td></tr></tbody></table>

Greg Karch said ‘What was so gratify was, we taught the cub scouts everything they need to earn the fishing belt loop or fishing pin.  Now all they need to do is wet a line.’

Sponsors of this event included NPAA, Future Angler Foundation,  Dave’s Musky Club, Shakespeare, Berkley, Plano, Mercury, Lake-Link, Triton Boats, The Boat Doc, Off Shore Tackle Company, Northland Tackle, TTI Blakemore Fishing Group, Navionics, Maui Jim, Big Eye Custom Lures and The Reel Shot.  Together we are growing the sport of fishing!!!

Many events bringing new people into the sport of fishing-both youth and adults-are supported through the 501c3 non-profit organization Future Angler Foundation. Through charitable contributions, the FAF purchases needed items for programs like this and helps skilled anglers teach others about one of the best sports a person can ever learn: fishing. It is a sport that can last a lifetime.
