NPAA member #283 Chad Schilling and owner of Oahe Wings & Walleyes of Akaska, SD and his partner won the MWC event on Lake Oahe this past weekend with a weight of 26.56 pounds. They took home a cash prize of $22,800.00 from the MWC, along with various Sponsor Bonus Awards such as:

Cabelas Angler Cash: $500.00
Lowrance Electronics: $500.00
U2 Oxygenator Award of $200.00

“We didn’t catch any Walleye during prefishing, so we were surprised how well we did on Saturday”, said Chad. After yesterday’s catch we knew we would be able to catch fish today, and we did it!”  It was an extremely tough bite this weekend, as the Lake Oahe system is chock full of smelt and other Walleye forage, so the fish are fat and sassy right now, and they don’t have to try very hard to eat.  Winning presentations this weekend were:
Running Shad Raps, Reef Runners, Hornets, Flicker Shads, and Tail Dancers on Leadcore, and allowing the baits to tick bottom in 25-45 foot of water.
Live Bait Rigging with Creek Chubs in 10-15 feet of water.

In Second place, and only 1.18 pounds behind the winners, is NPAA member #538, Brian Woodward of Casper, WY and his partner. Their two day total weight came to 25.38 pounds.  For their efforts they were rewarded with a cash prize of $4,200.00.

Third place goes to NPAA member #644, Jeff Gottbreht of Lincoln, NE and his partner. They only caught 4 fish, but their two day weight nearly matched those who caught 10 fish! Their total weight was 22.12 pounds.

NPAA Members who also finished in the top 15 included:

18th Place: Scott Busteed of Windsor, CO NPAA #536

13th Place: Johnnie Candle of Devils Lake, ND NPAA#42

(13th) Dave Nobel of Dixon, IL NPAA #997

15th Place: Troy Morris of Fargo, ND NPAA #166

The NPAA hosted a “Kids Fishing Clinic” on Saturday right after the weigh in completed. NPAA Secretary, Johnnie Candle, led the festivities as fellow circuit pros offered fishing tips and presented free rods, reels, and tackle packs courtesy of various tackle manufacturers and Northland Fishing Tackle. More than 60 children and their families attended the clinic.
