On June 19 NPAA members Brent Long #109 and Michael Kittner #690 hosted a Youth Fishing Clinic for 22 youth and 7 adults at the MWC event held in Bradford, Pa.
The presentation opened talking about safety in and near the water. The youth learned about closed faced and open faced reels, how to adjust the drag and it’s intended use. They learned how to set up a bobber rig to fish for pan fish and talked about the types of lures and bait that some of the anglers may be using at this tournament.
After looking at plastic lures and Berkley Gulp,  the discussion turned to Aquatic Invasive Species. The kids and adults learned about how to stop the spread of AIS by keeping the boat and trailer free from weeds and hitchhikers such as zebra mussels. They also learned about how bait and the water it is kept in may contribute to the spread of invasive species and how to avoid transferring them to different ecosystems.
Brent thanks the MWC for the use of their stage and the NPAA for supporting the event with rods/reels for the kids.
