The National Professional Anglers Association, a group of committed fishermen working diligently to grow the sport of fishing, announced today they will hold their Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 7-9, 2011.  The organization welcomes bass, musky, walleye, panfish, trout and anglers of all species, focusing on increasing the professionalism of its Members.

Highlighting the January Conference will be well-known TV host and producer Jerry McKinnis.  After 40 years entertaining millions of “Fishin’ Hole” fans, he recently purchased BASS with a group of investors, including the BASS fishing circuits, magazines, websites, TV shows and more. McKinnis has been inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, the Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, and is one of the pioneers in televising fishing.  He owns a television production company that has filmed the Great Outdoor Games, FLW and BASS tournaments, the Stihl Timbersports events, the Iditarod Sled Dog races and has developed the ESPN Outdoors block of programming.

Pat Neu, NPAA Executive Director said, “Jerry loves this sport and has a passion for it.  He brings decades of insight into the fishing world, and we are privileged to have him share it with us.  Like the NPAA membership, he loves to catch anything that swims.”

At the Conference, attendees will hear the latest industry news, meet many tackle and marine leaders, network with top Pro’s in the sport and learn about: how to report sponsorships, the fundamentals of treating fishing as a business, angler first aid, tournament updates for the coming year, what makes top Pro’s successful, Pro tips/tactics from bass Pro Dion Hibdon.  The Conference itself will run Saturday and Sunday January, 8-9, concluding with the McKinnis keynote presentation at 1:00PM Sunday.

NPAA President John Butts said, “Any angler who guides, fishes tournaments, has promotional or sales ties to fishing, or is helping grow the sport through youth events will benefit from being a NPAA member and attending the Annual Conference.”

The Conference is open to the Public and NPAA Members for a fee of $50 in advance or $60 at the door.  The Conference fee includes lunch both days and admission to the NPAA Meet/Greet Pizza Party on Friday January 7th from 5:00-7:30PM.  Non-Members who decided to become Members of the NPAA at the Conference will receive $25 credit that will be applied to their 2011 annual membership.  E-mail the NPAA at www.npaa.net to receive a Conference Registration Form, or call the NPAA office at, 920-856-6151.
