National Walleye Tour Presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s Changes Venue for Season Opener

The National Walleye Tour Presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s, in conjunction with the Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau, announces the relocation for the season-opening event set for May 2-3. In response to flood warnings impacting the Red Wing, Minnesota area, the NWT event will be hosted on Lake Winnebago at Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
This relocation is a response to a high snowpack in conjunction with deep frost depth, which could result in significant flooding if a warming period occurs. After significant research and deliberation with both state and local authorities, NWT Tournament Director Anthony Wright made the decision to relocate the event to Oshkosh.
“Angler safety is our number one priority,” said Wright. “Oshkosh will be a great alternative site and the Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau has been instrumental in assisting the kick off to the 2019 season.”
Fortunately with the move to Oshkosh the dates for the event remain unchanged. Activities begin Wednesday, May 1, with tournament registration from 2-4 p.m. The registration location will be announced soon. The mandatory pre-tournament meeting will start at 5:00 p.m. and will include pro- and co-angler pairings.
“We welcome the anglers of the NWT to Oshkosh again this year,” said Oshkosh Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Jodi Jensema. “Last year’s event was a big hit within our community and we are looking forward to hosting the event this year.”
Anglers who were previously registered for the Red Wing event will automatically transfer to the Oshkosh event. For refunds, anglers can contact the NWT at [email protected] or 612-424-0708.
