The bite is on and good numbers of walleyes and saugers being boated daily. Lots of big fish. Spinners with crawlers and pulling crankbaits in the mud in 28-31 ft doing very well. The area between Long Point and a few miles south of Garden Island holding lots of fish. Gold, glow and bright colors continue to be solid choices. Plugs that are darker in color seem to be producing on cloudy days while brighter colors do better on sunny days.   Pike all over the lake, perch mixed in with walleyes and smallmouth bite in rocky areas of the lake.

Anglers in the Rainy River finding some walleyes with morning/evening. Fall fishing on the Rainy River coming soon as shiners will push back up the river. Trolling cranks or pulling spinners producing the best now. Smallmouth bass in good numbers along shoreline rock, bridge embankments and feeder streams. Sturgeon anglers finding good success.

Up at the NW Angle, excellent fishing continues with no signs of slowing down.  In Minnesota, the bite has been on fire with trolling.  Blue, chrome, clown or UV pink has worked great in 26-30′. Nice bite in 13-22 feet of water as well. Four Blocks to Garden Island still holding lots of different sized fish. Big pike trolling cranks and spoons.  Up in Canada, jigging walleyes has been outstanding as is pulling spinners in 18-28′ using pink, orange, black and chartreuse along the reefs.  Muskies have been chopping on bucktails and hard baits, shallow weeds and rocks in both MN and Ontario.
