David Hoisington Wins His First National Walleye Tour Event

Hjelm takes 2nd, Witkowski Finishes 3rd

Final Day Story Presented by Garmin

Dunkirk, NY (August 8, 2025)- The fourth and final stop of the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s National Walleye Tour presented by Progressive brought two days of large crowds and beautiful weather as David Hoisington of Warren, PA hoisted his first National Walleye Tour trophy with a two-day total of 69-02. Duane Hjelm of Pierre, SD continued his stellar season with a 2nd place finish and a total weight of 66-12, followed closely by Brandon Witkowski of Saginaw, MI who brought 64-05 to the scales over two days.

Pro Angler David Hoisington takes home a brand new Ranger 620FS valued at $94,645.00

“I’m still on cloud 9”, Hoisington said. “I found the spot during the first day of pre fishing and came back later in the week and caught a big one. I never thought I would catch 37 pounds like I did on day 1. I caught every fish on a jig and crawler.”

“Today was a struggle,” Hoisington stated. He started the morning hot catching a few quality fish and even throwing 5 pounders back, then the bite completely shut down. “I didn’t catch a fish for 3 hours and went into panic mode”. Hoisington ended up finishing out his limit with a 4-9. “I can not believe I had 32 pounds.”

“I love Lake Erie. I just started fishing it 2-3 years ago. It’s just phenomenal”, Hoisington says. When asked what this win means to him, he responded “next to my family, this is the top notch, coolest thing that has ever happened to me”.

Hoisington is now bringing home a brand-new Ranger 620 powered by a 250 horsepower Mercury motor and $15,000 in cash.

Ryan Jossart Sr. of Racine, WI, took home the Co-Angler title and a $10,000 payday after bringing 64-07 to the scales over 2 days.
