The 2011 Colorado Walleye Association points’ tournament season has come to a close, and we would like to thank all the CWA members who have competed in this year’s tournaments. It was a very successful year for all, and one of the closest races for the Team of The Year in recent memory.

Congratulations to the TOY Dave Kooser and Powers Cayce who topped field with a total of 292 points. This was due in large part to two 3rd place, and a 5th place finish in the 4 CWA tournaments. Right on their heels and only a single point behind was the team of Gene Metschke and Larry Call with a total of 291 points. Gene and Larry have been fishing CWA tournaments for 20 years together now and have only missed one tournament in all of those years. Gene and Larry won the first two tournaments in 2011, but had just a slight stumble at the 3rd tournament that cost them the win.

Third place this year went to the team of Barry Cundiff and Eric Thorn with 288 points. Barry had an excellent year despite being the President of the CWA, and having more concerns than just fishing tournaments. Partner Eric Thorn was a huge help in the 3rd place finish. The 4th spot went to the team of Mike Latimer and Preston Vines with 287 points. Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Cary Weaver and Ryan Bartingale with 285 points. What a year for the CWA, and what a race to the end!

The CWA still has one more tournament to complete before the season ends. Our annual Fall Classic to be held on Sept. 10th at Pueblo Reservoir in Southern Colorado. This is a great tournament for CWA members that encompasses a half day/half night approach. This is just a fun tournament for relaxation and a few bragging rights.

We would also like to take a moment and recognize all our Supporting Partners/Sponsors. This has been possibly the best year for the CWA, and the main reason for this is all the support we have gotten from these great businesses. The CWA is a non-profit organization and could not survive without your help. In a touch economy the CWA continues to grow thanks to your support. Thank you SO much for what you have done.
