NPAA members Scott Keeley, DJ Pinney, Shawn Flemming, Johnnie Candle and Scott Reed, with help from the Sioux City SCHEELS staff educated over 40 Future Anglers last week at The Kids and Family Fishing Clinic held on 11-12 April in conjunction with SCHEELS Kids Club and Fish Fest Event.   The NPAA members worked closely with the young anglers to teach them basic knot tying techniques and fish identification as well as providing some friendly competition with a casting contest.  Each young angler that attended received a “Future Pro” T-shirt donated by the NPAA.

The NPAA members in partnership with Iowa DNR Conservation Officer Stacey Beightol  were also able to educate the several hundred  parents, youth and local anglers who attended SCHEELS Fish Fest Event about: state fish/game laws, life jacket fitting, boating safety / regulations, fishing basics and  the importance of the Clean, Drain, Dry process that must be followed by boaters to help stop the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species in the area rivers and lakes.  The efforts of the educators resulted in the attendees leaving the event with a better understanding of how to catch fish and the resource.

Sponsors for the event included: NPAA, SCHEELS, Shimano, Jolly Roger Tackle, Berkley and Costa Sunglasses.
