A Richer AIM Payout Pool, And No Fee Increase

There’s something great under the tree waiting for anglers competing in the 2020 AIM Weekend Walleye Series: A chance to cash bigger checks, with no entry fee increase.

“You read that right, Fan Nation,” said Denny Fox, AIM national tournament director. “I’ve been saying for a while now that big things are in store for AIM in 2020 and beyond, and this is one of them. This is the result of a lot of hard work in the off-season to bring you some great holiday gifts, and this is one. And we’re not through yet. When you keep supporting our sponsors the way you do, it results in what we’re announcing today.”

For the 2020 season, AIM will be awarding teams 10 percent more than last year in the four qualifying tournament payouts, with no increase in its entry fees.

With a full field of 100 boats, that means $3,000 more in the purse. In all, it means a potential for a $12,000 richer purse in each state, or as much as $36,000 more overall for the season.

As a result, the winner of each of the four qualifying tournaments in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota, with a full field (100 boats) will now pocket $9,000.

“That also means AIM will be paying out 85 percent of the entry fees to 15 percent of the field beginning next season. That is up from 75 percent of the entry fees to 15 percent of the field in previous years,” Fox added. These payouts are actual cash, not prizes handed out in place of cash, all for the same entry fee of $300 per team.

On top of that, there are even more ways to earn more, he said.

Every AIM tournament will now feature voluntary “side pots” to every event. Entry cost will be $100 per team, and teams will be asked if they want in at the time of registration. Entry into the side pots will only be open online up to the Wednesday before an event.

All of the “side pot” money collected will be paid back to the top three finishing teams entered, with 50 percent of the total going to first, 30 percent for second, and 20 percent for a third place finish.

In addition, our sponsors are adding their own contingency awards for top teams using their products in an AIM tournament.

It all means that if you register for all and win, you’ll see bonus contingency money in the thousands in addition to that extra AIM cash and potential tournament pot. When you pre-register at each of the sites below, those incentive awards include the following:

Warrior Boats offers Warrior Cash, paying $100 to $1,000. See Warrior for more info.

Run a Yamaha outboard in any AIM tourney and win from $750 to $2,000 as the highest placing eligible entrant, from Yamaha Power Pay.

Own a Nitro powered by Mercury? Take advantage of Nitro’s Tournament Rewards for as much as $5,000 in an AIM tourney.

Garmin Electronics offers a AIM exclusive, $500 at all aim events for the highest placing team with Garmins fixed-mounted electronics.

Newest sponsor Berkley offers Cast For Cash contingency money from $100 to $500 dollars. When you register, you’ll also get a goodie bag, the Berkley Pro Pack valued at $47.95.

Fox River Lures and Rods is also renewing its special deal for AIM anglers. Any team placing first, second or third in an AIM tournament using a Fox River Lures and Rods stick will win $100 to $300 cash depending on place.

Off Shore Tackle: if the winning team used Off Shore Tackle planner boards to win, they will be awarding them $200.00. Details to follow.

And, if you use a Moonshine Lure, such as its very popular Shiver Minnow, to win in AIM, put your palm out for $100 to $500 worth of tackle rewards.
