2nd Annual Walleye Fishing Workshops

By popular requests the Winnebago Lakes Council will sponsor another year of Walleye Fishing Workshops.  Advanced reservations are required.  Participants are encouraged to reserve early because the workshops are limited to 125 people and were filled to capacity last year.  For reservations call Jack Brauer at 920-233-3536.  All three workshops, to be held in February, will start at 6:30 p.m. in the medium center of the Fox Valley Technical College’s Oshkosh Riverside Campus, 150 Campbell Rd.

Admission to all three workshops may be obtained by becoming a member of the Winnebago Lakes Council, which costs $25 per year.  Information on joining is available at the organizations Website, www.winnebagolakes.org.

The three sessions will cover the following topics:
2009 Workshops
Feb. 12th:   Pulling Flies for Walleyes.
Using flies to catch walleyes in the rivers has become very popular.  Among the how-to suggestions will be how to make your own flies and how to use the proper colors for the flies.  Guide Ryan Standke will conduct the workshop.

Feb 19th:   Seasonal Movement of Walleyes in the Winnebago System.
Participants will learn how to find walleyes in local waterways during various seasons of the year.  Department of Natural Resources fisheries biologist Kendall Kamke will present the results of his walleye assessment program of shocking and trawling operations, and Standke will provide tips on how to find walleyes.

Feb. 26th:  ABCs of Setting Up a Lowrance GPS/Sonar Unit for Walleye Fishing
Lowrance representative Chris Gasser, who is president of the Sheboygan Walleye Club, will conduct the workshop, assisted by Standke.
