28 Kids Attend Future Angler Event in Cass Lake, MN

September 16th-September 17th concluded the Cabalas Masters Walleye Circuit regular season for 2016 on Minnesota’s Cass Lake. MWC set a record for Cass Lake registering 98 teams to battle the walleyes. On the first day of the tournament, the weather was great and the walleyes were cooperating. As anglers brought their walleyes across the stage, 28 future anglers cheered them on.

Following the weigh-in, members of the National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) held a Future Angler Clinic at Stoney Point Resort.
At this event, future anglers learned on the water safety, how to identify different species of fish, why fishing is fun, how to stop the spread of aquatic nuisance species and how to properly measure a fish!
Following the educational lesson, each future angler received a free rod/reel combination and a fishing journal courtesy of the NPAA Future Anglers Foundation. In all, 28 future anglers and 15 adults had attended the clinic.
NPAA Members who helped with the event include: Spencer Deutz #552, and Zach Axtman #512, Brian Tordsend #388 and Brad Berens #745. MWC Anglers who also helped were Ron Deutz, Steve Axtman and Daren Lewin.
