On Saturday April 26, FM Walleyes Unlimited, INC., Courts Plus Fitness Center in Fargo, ND, and the NPAA Future Anglers Foundation teamed up to host a Future Angler Event.
In fewer than 24 hours, registration numbers jumped from 26 to 110 thanks to press releases and television media exposure in via local media channels.

The clinic consisted of kids learning to tie fishing knots, catch backyard bass, view minnows in a bucket using an underwater camera system, properly net a fish, and the safest way to handle and remove fishing hooks from their catch.

FM Walleyes Youth Education Coordinator and NPAA Club Member #552 Spencer Deutz organized the event and presented a 30-minute seminar, where youth learned to identify fish, bait presentations, discuss why they love fishing and how they can help to keep our waterways free and clear of aquatic nuisance species. Following the seminar, kids were presented with a fishing rod/reel combo, a Future Anglers T-Shirt or a water bottle donated from the Future Anglers Foundation.

The event was the first of its kind at Courts Plus Fitness Center.

“Thank you for bringing the fishing clinic idea to us and running the clinic this past Saturday. 110 children is an amazing turnout for a new program. We are always looking for new community program ideas and I hope that this will become an annual event at Courts Plus,” said Wayne Herrick who is the Program Director for the Fitness Center.
Other NPAA Members that volunteered for the event were Scotty Brewer #665 and Paul DesChene #663.

FM Walleye Members who volunteered were:  Spencer Deutz, Scotty Brewer, JW Schroeder, Aaron Sorenson, Destiny Brewer, Ron Deutz, Kurt Kainz, Carley Paulseth, Ron Sahr and Brian Dahlin.
