Forestville, WI — When a hobby becomes a business (like professional fishing and guiding), the angler/businessman wants answers to the question that Maura Steblay asked, “Want to keep more of your income?” She is a partner and financial advisor with Minneapolis Financial Group, the newest member of the National Professional Anglers Association. With an accounting degree, an education degree and a mom, plus all the experience of dealing with small business owners for years, she is qualified to assist fishermen with their finances, tracking expenses, forming a LLC, keeping more of their hard-earned money, estate and retirement plans, saving on taxes, and the details that take a small business from “struggling” to “profitability.” “I’m positively passionate about helping regular people know all they can about becoming better businessmen and creating a plan for their success,” Steblay said. The company she represents was formed the year that Minnesota was admitted into the Union, 1858, and has been growing annually based on referrals. “Friends send friends our way,” she said. She works with pro anglers now who have full-time jobs, but are planning to make the jump to “all fishing” soon. The question she asks is, “What if you win the next major tournament? How will that change your life? Are you ready?” She knows NPAA members are excited about fishing, but not so much when it comes to business. “If they knew all the things they could expense and save money, they would see a difference the first year,” she said. “I come to them, talk their language, share some fishing stories, but then start asking questions. That leads to financial advice, and I’m willing to help.” Maura Steblay, Minneapolis Financial Group, www.financialguide.com/maura-steblay Pat Neu, NPAA executive director said, “We’re proud to have Maura and the Minneapolis Financial Group on board as a supporting partner. Planning for success on the water is critical; so is planning for a successful financial future. NPAA members should set short-term and long-term goals. Maura has the skills, tools and experience to help meet those goals.” About the National Professional Anglers Association The National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) is a non-profit, member-based association dedicated to sportfishing.
