The Muskie Expo Milwaukee and Muskie Expo Chicago, in cooperation with MuskieFIRST, LurePartsOnline.com and The National Professional Anglers Association is pleased to announce the Fourth-Annual Muskie Lure-Building World Championship that will be part of the 2015 Musky Expo Chicago January 9-11 and 2015 Muskie Expo Milwaukee February 13-15.

In response to the growing interest regarding custom lures in many angling circles as well as multiple internet forums, Muskie Expo is proud to once again highlight hand-crafted, hand painted original lures made by talented lure artisans from all over the world. Many of the lures, especially with some of the unbelievable paint finishes, are worthy of being placed in art studios.

The 2014 competition had over 20 original lures, which raised over $600 that was donated to help promote Muskie fishing education.  This competition truly showcases the most talented craftsmen in the world, having not only to create a unique lure with the proper enticing action and color combinations to attract Muskies, but also to appeal to the eye of today’s discriminating Muskie angler.

The lures will be displayed at a booth at each show where visitors can get an up-close look at the lures and even vote for their favorite one.  This year, changes will be made to accommodate additional lure styles and lure crafters, which will  raise more money for Muskie fishing education.

The competition will consist of six categories including: topwater, crankbait/swimbait, glide/jerkbait, blade bait, soft plastic and repaint, along with an overall best of show winner.

The competition will consist of 2 divisions within each category: basement builders and production builders.  This will offer a total of thirteen winners, with each winner receiving a 1st Place trophy and gift certificate to honor their efforts.  An additional change this year will include the lures being displayed at both shows as well as the internet where visitors can vote and bid on their favorite lure.

The internet auction will again benefit Muskie fishing education in cooperation with the National Professional Anglers Association.  Entrants interested in being part of the competition can obtain an entry form from the Milwaukee Expo website.
