Goture Rod, reel, jigs, and scoop
We received the Goture ice fishing products in undamaged shape and in solid packaging, a definite positive. The unique 28” two-piece rod is high quality and nicely finished. It is unique in that the rod comes with a nifty sleeve holding a ML tip and a M interchangeable tip. The tips are easy to exchange and fit tightly on the rod, indistinguishable from the one-piece rods we are accustomed to. There is a well-positioned hook keeper at the base of the rod blank. The grips front and rear of the reel seat are cork, again nice quality.
The Goture right/left-handed reel mounted well to the reel seat and is the perfect size for the rod, listed as a 500. The reel features 6 ball bearings, a metal spool, an excellent drag, and plenty of line capacity. Not that it matters a lot on an ice rod, but the reel is also notably smooth at 5.2:1 retrieve ratio. The supplied super line filled the spool perfectly. Nice reel!
A small scoop and a half dozen ice jigs accompanied the outfit, a nice touch. The jigs are what you would expect from a quality builder and hook and hold well on panfish. We did catch a couple of big pike on the outfit to test the rod and reel, and they both performed very well.
