National Crappie League Official Press Release:
The National Crappie League’s Championship will be held February 15, 16 & 17th, 2024 in Monroe-West Monroe, LA. Hosted by Monroe-West Monroe CVB, Ludwig Marine, Morris Marine, the tournament will bring anglers from around the United States to compete for the top prize.
Division I teams will compete against Division I qualifiers while Open Division teams will compete with Open Division qualifiers. Day 1 and Day 2 accumulated weights will determine the top 25 from each division that will compete on Day 3 for the National Championship titles. Day 3 will determine the National Champions by their total accumulated weight over the three days of competition. The yearly points race champions will be determined after Day 3 of the competition. The points race, Angler Team of the Year, will be determined by the team’s best 4-point tournaments and their championship points.
The angler’s pre-tournament meeting and banquet will be on February 14, 2024 at the Monroe Civic Center, 401 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway, Monroe, LA 71201. Angler sign-in is from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 PM with the Banquet and Meeting being at 6:00 PM. Anglers will launch from any public ramp available to all other teams on days 1 and 2. Teams may trailer from the designated live well check location which will be announced. On day 3 there will be a shotgun launch at Poverty Point, the location to be announced.
The weigh-in will be held all three days at the Monroe Civic Center, 401 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway, Monroe, LA 71201. The public is encouraged to come and watch.
Competitors will fish in 3 different local waters.
On day 1 February 15, 2024, the Open Division will fish the Ouachita River from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and must be in the weigh-in line by 3:00 PM. Ouachita River legal waters are from the South Lock and Dam #4 at Riverton to the North Lock and Dam Felsenthal.
Division I will fish legal waters on Caney Creek from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM on Day 1 and must be in weigh-in line by 4:00 PM
You may not go into any area posted with no trespassing signs on any body of water.
Day 2 the divisions will reverse lakes.
On day 2 February 16, 2024, the Open Division will fish Caney Creek from
7:30 AM to 2:30 PM and be in the weigh-in line by 4:00
Division I, will fish the legal waters of the Ouachita River on day 2 from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and be in the weigh-in line by 3:00
Anglers may pre-fish Caney Creek or Ouachita River until Noon on February 14, 2024.
D’Arbonne Lake will be the backup lake should the river be in flood stages.
The accumulated weight of day 1 and day 2 will determine the top 25 of each division who will fish on Day 3. The top 25 teams from each division will compete on Poverty Point Reservoir on day 3 February 17, 2024. Teams will be able to fish all legal waters on Poverty Point Reservoir. Anglers may NOT pre-fish Poverty Point after January 17, 2024.
Awards will be presented at 12:30 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Expo/Civic Center.
Division I Champions will receive a $15,000.00 First Place Prize Minimum while the Open Division grand prize will be a minimum of $25,000.00. The tournament is 100% payback and pays 1-4 teams.
The Division I H&H RODS Angler Team of the Year prizes are $4,000.00 for first place, second place is 1-Set of Power Poles and third place is 2-Outlaw Lithium Batteries. The OPEN DIV. H&H RODS Angler Team of the Year prizes are $4,000.00 for first place, second place is 1-Set of Power Poles and third place will receive 2-Outlaw Lithium Batteries
