Christmas is close. Presents are purchased, well mostly. There’s not much left for most of us to do to get ready for the big day. That includes Zoneloc pro Alton Jones Jr, except for working on one big present he’s already received and anticipating one he can’t wait to experience.

“I picked up my new boat for the 2017 Bassmaster Elite Series season,” said Jones. “There is so much excitement getting this boat. All the preparation to ready it for my first season on the Elite Series.

“I’ve transferred all of my tackle, rods and reels, etc. Now I have to install graphs and my Power Poles. Then break in the boat motor. I’m really itching to go fishing. I can really feel the excitement of being on the verge of starting. I’m on the cusp of starting something that is very exciting.”

Before Alton gets to experience the thrill of Elite Series competition, he needs to experience something he’s always dreamed of. Yep, a real white Christmas.

“I’m heading to St. Paul, Minnesota to spend Christmas there,” said Jones. “I’ll be there with my fiancé Kelsey and her family. I’ve seen snow at Christmas once, but never a real white Christmas that we’ve all heard about in songs and movies. I’m excited.

“I’m also excited about taking part of all of Kelsey’s family traditions. Sounds like a lot of good food, drinking hot chocolate and watching movies. Also sounds like I’ll need to bring a lot of warm clothes. There’s a lot of snow and below zero temperatures right now.

“Maybe I’ll get to try ice fishing, too.”

After Christmas, Jones will be heading to Florida to check out The Big O.

“After the New Year, I will be checking out Lake Okeechobee,” said Jones. “I haven’t been there in 10 years. It is a constantly changing place. I’ll borrow a buddy’s boat and just check the place out and try to eliminate water and find something a little different. You never know, maybe I’ll break out the Zoneloc Flippin’ Hooks and punch some mats for bass, too.”
