Greg Hackney’s career is covered up with achievement. He’s won Bassmaster Elite Series events, the Bassmaster Angler of the Year (AOY) title and the FLW championship aka the Forrest Wood Cup. Yet, Hackney hasn’t quite reached the pinnacle.

No, no, no. The pinnacle isn’t the Bassmaster Classic, the Elite Series championship, nope. It’s toughing it out and braving the toughest interrogation in pro fishing. Yeppers, the pinnacle in this case is taking on Three Questions from BassFIRST. Hackney finally made it to the top.

DL – What fishing trip is on your bucket list?

GH – I want to head to South America and catch an arapaima. Those fish are so cool. I mean they’re bad. I think the closest thing to them would be a saltwater fish like the tarpon. From what I’ve seen they are really difficult to catch.

I’ve been to South America before, but for this trip I want the full Amazon River experience. Fishing back in areas nobody ever goes to catch one of those huge fish. It would be cool.

DL – What would you ask Donald Trump?

GH – What made you want to be the President of the United States? That’s what I’d ask. What was the deciding factor?

I’ve always wondered what makes anyone want to subject themselves and their families to that tremendous pressure and constant scrutiny. In Mr. Trump’s case, why take the chance? He didn’t need to. I’ve always wondered why people run for that office.

DL – Do you prefer beer or soda pop?

GH – I’d say I probably prefer the beer. It has a little more kick to it than soda pop. I’m not a big beer drinker, but if it’s a hot day and there is a cooler full of beer and soda on ice, I’m grabbing the beer. Plus, if you drink 6 sodas in a row you’ll get sick, especially the diet sodas. If you drink that many beers in a row, well, you feel 10-feet tall and bullet proof.
