Kennesaw, GA (February 14, 2022) – SPRO and Gamakatsu are committed to designing the best lures and hooks for the hardcore angler, and no angler embodies that commitment more than John Crews. Most recently, Crew put his skill to the test and walked away with the AFTCO Bassmaster Elite trophy on the St. Johns River.

This past weekend, Crews talked about “When it’s your time, it’s your time” and this weekend was his time. Crews brought heavy bags to the scales most days, allowing only one slip day with a 6-pounder that helped seal the deal. On Championship Sunday, he secured his win with a 5 fish limit of 17 pounds, 1 ounce. Crews maintained his lead with steady productivity to win the AFTCO Bassmaster Elite at St. Johns River with a four-day total of 75 pounds, 4 ounces.

Crews relied on Gamakatsu and SPRO to keep him in the action. Crews used the razor-sharp Gamakatsu G Finesse Worm Light Wire and G Finesse Hybrid Worm hooks to secure his win on the St. Johns River.

“SPRO and Gamakatsu are incredibly proud of John and his performance this past weekend,” said Syd Rives, Sales Manager of SPRO. “We’re very excited about this win for him and are confident that he and other BASS anglers like him will continue to be solid ambassadors for our sport and brand.”
