Spiro High School Wins FLW High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing Fort Gibson Lake Open
WAGONER, Okla. (July 13, 2020) – Oklahoma’s Spiro High School duo of Gunner West and Trey McKinney brought five bass to the scale Saturday weighing 18 pounds, 4 ounces to win the FLW High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing Fort Gibson Lake Open.
For their win on Fort Gibson Lake, the team now advances to the 2021 High School Fishing National Championship.
The top four teams that qualified for the 2021 High School Fishing National Championship are:
1st: Spiro High School, Spiro, Okla. – Gunner West and Trey McKinney, five bass, 18-4
2nd: East Beauregard High School, DeRidder, La. – Hayden Farmer and Jayden Meadows, five bass, 18-2
3rd: Wagoner High School, Wagoner, Okla. – Garrett Barton and Braden Lankford, five bass, 17-7
4th: Flower Mound High School, Flower Mound, Texas – Ethan Boisvert and Caleb Boisvert, five bass, 17-5
Rounding out the top 10 were:
5th: Noble High School, Noble, Okla. – Brycen Soliday and Jaxon Windsor, four bass, 17-2
6th: Wagoner High School, Wagoner, Okla. – Aidan Murray and Gauge Merz, five bass, 14-2
7th: Charles Page High School, Sand Springs, Okla. – Reese David and Mack Taylor, five bass, 13-13
8th: Wagoner High School, Wagoner, Okla. – Hunter Alsip and Bryce Kyndell, five bass, 12-8
9th: Mannford High School, Mannford, Okla. – Sydney Meier and Joseph Case, four bass, 10-14
10th: Bryant High School, Little Rock, Ark. – Tucker Dottley and Brandon Gabe, five bass, 10-12

The event launched from the Whitehorn Cove Marina in Wagoner, Oklahoma, and was hosted by the Wagoner Area Chamber of Commerce.
The FLW High School Fishing presented by Favorite Fishing Fort Gibson Lake Open was a free, two-person (team) event for students in grades 7-12 and open to any FLW and Student Angler Federation-affiliated high school club. The top 10 percent of teams at each Open event along with the TBF High School Fishing state championships will advance to the 2021 High School Fishing National Championship. The High School Fishing national champions will each receive a $5,000 college scholarship to the school of their choice.
In addition to the High School Fishing National Championship, all High School Fishing anglers nationwide automatically qualify for the world’s largest open high school bass tournament, the 2021 High School Fishing World Finals, held in conjunction with the National Championship. More than $2.8 million in scholarships and prizes were offered at the 2020 World Finals.
