If you’re still stuck figuring out what to get your up-and-coming bass pro for Christmas, or even yourself, check out the “must have” rod and reel combos  BASS Elite Series pro Brian Snowden has in his boat. Any basser would be happy with these outfits.

“The first rod I couldn’t live without would be a St. Croix, Legend Elite, casting rod, model #EC70MHF,” said Snowden.  “This seven foot, medium heavy rod is excellent for many different applications.  It works well for fishing football jigs or Carolina rigs on structure, as well as pitching smaller jigs around shallow cover and boat docks.  You can also throw spinnerbaits and buzzbaits on this rod.  I use a Johnny Morris Elite Series Reel with a 6:4:1 gear ratio.

“The second must have rod would be a St. Croix Legend Tournament, model #TBC711HMF/Big Gulp.  This is the rod I use for flipping or pitching to wood, as well as punching grass with big weights.  It is a long, one piece rod, but it weighs only 5.4 ounces.  I use the Johnny Morris Elite Series Reel with a 6:4:1 gear ratio.

“The last rod would be a spinning rod.  It is a St. Croix Legend Tournament, model #TBS70MF.  This is a great all around spinning rod that can be used for drop shotting shakey heads and any type of finnesse fishing.  My reel of choice is the 2500 Johnny Morris Spinning Reel.”
