SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 3, 2025) – New for its historic 20th season, the Association of Collegiate Anglers introduced the collegiate All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha. At each of its four major events throughout the year, the ACA announced three nominees to the All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha. By the end of the 2024-25 season, a total of 12 anglers comprised this prestigious group. At the Angler & Sponsor Banquet for the ACA’s 20th National Championship, one of the 12 anglers was recognized as the Academic All-American presented by Yamaha.

Harmon Marien from 3rd ranked McKendree University was the recipient of the 2025 Academic All-American presented by Yamaha. Harmon received a $2,000 scholarship on behalf of the ACA and Yamaha.

Harmon is a graduate student pursuing his Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing at McKendree University. He completed his undergrad in less than four years, providing him with the opportunity to attain additional degrees and further his education.

“To me, the Academic All-American represents a collegian who pursues their academics with the utmost importance while simultaneously pursuing success in collegiate fishing tournaments and being an active/positive member in their university and community,” said Marien.

The McKendree University angler exemplified these qualities to his fullest during his time in school. While balancing his time in the classroom and on the water, Harmon also participated in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and Athletics Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

In 2022, his sophomore year, Harmon received the McKendree University School of Business Award of Excellence. Voted upon by faculty, this is award is presented to the top five students in the entire department between all educational levels. During his senior year, Harmon was awarded the 2024 McKendree University Top School of Business Overall Student Award of Excellence. “These three awards signify my consistency, credibility, character, and improvement each and every day. While performing well academically in reference to my GPA is important, consistently treating my peers and professors with respect also plays largely into this award,” Marien noted.

In partnership with Yamaha, the ACA will continue its collegiate All-Academic Team presented by Yamaha during the 2025-26 school year. To nominate a deserving angler, click here.

The Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) is a division of CarecoTV that was created twenty years ago to facilitate growth, development, and structure within competitive collegiate bass fishing, with emphasis on competitive fishing events nationwide. The ACA created the original BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship which has now evolved into the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, which is now recognized as the longest-running consecutive collegiate bass fishing series in existence.  The ACA has also created various other programs such as the Collegiate School of the Year Rankings system, College Bass Fishing Open, Collegiate Big Bass Bash and the College Bass Fishing Springtime Slam.

The ACA lineup of major college fishing events includes a variety of nationwide tournaments that are multi-day tournaments, all of which are televised and streamed on several networks, as well as streamed on a variety of connected platforms.  These major events have no entry fees and no membership costs associated with them. The ACA also provides support to numerous schools operating regional events nationwide which is an effort to provide more opportunities to grow the exposure and awareness of college fishing.

The ACA owns the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series, Bass Pro Shops School of Year presented by Abu Garcia program, and associated assets which is widely regarded as the most comprehensive and prestigious collegiate bass fishing title today.

Thanks in part to the large diversity of media exposure the ACA provides, the series boasts the largest amount of televised and streaming coverage of any collegiate fishing series. This includes a dedicated television series on numerous television networks and streaming platforms, as well as additional coverage of select events inside other programs.

This combination includes coverage from national and regional television networks as well as being streamed online on various apps and connected devices. You can also find coverage via video on demand online at any time of past events thanks to coverage on OutdoorActionTV.com and PursuitUp.com
