What’s at stake? Your sinkers, jigs and artificial lures could be banned.

The California Department of Toxic Substance Control is targeting your tackle box. Despite a total lack of evidence, they are suggesting that fishing equipment is negatively impacting public health, aquatic resources and wildlife populations. They’ve gone so far as to begin work on a plan that identifies “fishing and angling equipment” as a possible product category to be restricted. This could include many common fishing products that contain lead, zinc or copper.

Tell the State of California to leave your tackle box alone. You have until October 21 to speak out in opposition to the proposed ban by submitting a comment before the plan is finalized. Send an electronic letter today and help stop this unwarranted proposal from moving forward.
