OCTOBER 1, 2012-MINNETONKA, MN-After an exciting season spanning four qualifiers and thousands of acres of prime bass water, the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit’s season draws to a dramatic close on the mighty Mississippi River with the Cabela’s NABC World Bass Championship Oct. 5-6 at Red Wing, Minnesota.

Headquartered in scenic Colvill Park, the Championship pits the Circuit’s top 28 two-person teams in an all-out bassin’ brawl. First place pays $20,000 in cash, and all told the field is fighting for a share of the $30,000 cash purse plus more than $14,000 in sponsor contingencies from Cabela’s Angler Cash, Stratos 2X ‘Double Your Winnings,’ Ranger Cup, Rapala, Trigger X and Sufix, Bomber, Booyah, XCalibur and YUM, Optima Batteries True Blue program, O2 Technologies U2 and Oxygenator bonuses, and the Circuit’s Big-Bass Pot.
Teams earned a berth in the invitation-only Championship at the Circuit’s four qualifiers. The Cabela’s NABC season included stops on Wisconsin’s bass-rich Lake Winnebago and Madison chains, and Minnesota’s Gull and Leech lakes.

Rich in bass-fishing talent, the Championship field is led by the 2012 Cabela’s NABC Team of the Year, Minnesotans Will Pappa, of Lonsdale, and Austin Felix, of Eden Prairie. Teams are allowed to bring their best five large- and smallmouth bass to the NABC scale each day, and under the Circuit’s catch-and-release format, the fish will be released back into the Mississippi River. The NABC will also donate $15 per boat to the Winona State University Bass Club for its conservation and youth outreach efforts. To date, the NABC and its sister trail, the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit, have donated more than $300,000 to fisheries conservation and angler recruitment.
