Bertrand’s best bets for late summer

Josh Bertrand took a little time this summer while chilling in Arizona preparing for the last regular season Bassmaster Elite Series to share his opinions on a few of his favorite late-summer bass fishing techniques. By the way, did ya get the funny, chilling in Arizona, in the summer? Come on, ya gotta giggle.
Anyway, Bertrand shares three of his favorites for hooking up with bass during the last portion of summer with BassFIRST.
Deep cranking.
“I like the Berkley Dredger 25.5 for my deep cranking,” said Bertrand. “The Dredger will hit the deepest ledges, points and humps.
“It is a perfect bait for searching offshore fish and triggering the biggest fish in the school to bite.”
Big worms.
“Another favorite of mine is a 10-inch Berkley Power Worm,” said Bertrand. “I fish this bait on a Texas rig with a ½-ounce weight.
“It works well in the same areas I fish the Dredger. I’ll use the worm to comb the area slowly.”
Walk on top.
“I really like a walking topwater bait,” said Bertrand. “It is a great lure, and great way to catch aggressive bass in the early morning or late evening.”
