Years of fishing the Wal-Mart BFL’s, qualifying for BFL Regional Championships, the BFL All-American and eventually the BASS and FLW Tours have paid off for him. Along the way he’s won an EverStart, BASS Open and an FLW Series tournament. Hoernke currently fishes FLW events and BASS Opens.When he’s not fishing he has competed in off-road races, including the Baja 1000, a world-famous race, taking place in a desert. It’s not for the recreational motorcycle enthusiast. He’s also competed in the Field and Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge (TOC). The TOC is an event that challenges the competitors at a variety of outdoor sports skills.BF – How many years have you been fishing as fulltime pro?SH – I’ve been fishing fulltime for 7 Years.BF – Have you ever won a tournament at any level? If yes, how many and which events?SH – I’ve won three tournaments. One FLW Tour event Lake Norman, One FLW Series, Smith Lake, one FLW EverStart Tournament at the Red River in Louisiana and one Bassmaster Open also at the Red RiverBF – Do you have any other job besides being pro angler right now?SH – No BF – What was your previous job?SH – I’ve never had a “real” job. I qualified for the Bassmaster Tour straight out of college and have fished fulltime ever since.BF – How many days per year do you fish?SH – I’m fishing 200 or more days per year.BF – How many days per year are you on the road for tournaments?SH – I’m gone 9 months per year fishing tournaments.BF – How many shows do you work for sponsors?SH – As many as possible between events.BF – What else do you do for sponsors?SH – Promote, Promote, Promote.BF – What is your favorite pastime?SH – Riding off-road motorcycles somewhere far away!BF – Do you have a family and do they travel with you to tournaments?SH – I’m single.BF – If you weren’t a pro angler would you still fish tournaments?SH – If I wasn’t a pro angler I would probably be racing something with two or four wheels!
