Today Bass Cat announced the addition of Queensland native Carl Jocumsen to its 2016 Elite Series Team. A dominant competitor in the Australian bass tournament scene, Jocumsen will run a 2016 Bass Cat Puma FTD in this year’s Bassmaster Elite Series.
“I’ve watched Carl since he first hit the States several years ago and I was immediately impressed with his positive attitude and personable demeanor,” stated Bass Cat Team Manager Kevin Short. “Carl is one of those people who leaves a positive impression on everyone he meets, making him a great ambassador for Bass Cat around the globe.”
Despite the fact that Australia does not have largemouth, spotted, or smallmouth bass, the three species targeted by the Bassmaster Elite Series, Jocumsen has managed to adapt and master the different techniques necessary to compete amongst the best. He qualified for the Bassmaster Elite Series in 2014 through the Central Open Angler of the Year standings, fishing all three divisions. In his rookie year, Carl placed 10th at the Upper Chesapeake Bay and 6th at Lake Guntersville.
When asked about his decision to join the Bass Cat team Jocumsen said, “I am extremely grateful and excited to be a part of the Bass Cat family. Their attention to detail and tradition of cutting edge designs truly fits my philosophy of only using the best. Confidence is key in this sport and the performance of my Puma FTD will give me that and more going into this season.”
Bass Cat President Rick Pierce added, “Carl is a great addition to our current Elite Series Team, which is one of the strongest yet in terms of both fishing skill and marketing expertise.”
Bass Cat, owned by Correct Craft, manufactures the industry’s premier bass fishing boats from its headquarters in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Family operated since it’s founding in 1971, Bass Cat is the longest continuously operating tournament bass boat company in the USA.
