Here is our weekly fishing report:

Up at the NW Angle, fishing has been EXCELLENT. Our water temperature was at 64 degrees at

the beginning of the week and is down to 54 degrees today. We are continuing to fish our fall pattern: Deep holes near funnels going back into bays. As usual, all of our groups are catching their limits. Catching lots of walleyes, muskies, perch & crappies. Duck hunting is in full swing. Fishing is fantastic.

Forrest Huset said they are still trolling for muskies at 12-16′ with big baits.

Tip of the Week by Todd Sparrow: “My friend noticed

he would catch a fish each time he set his rod down so he started “dead sticking” and it worked amazingly well.  He would set his rod carefully to keep the jig & minnow 6″-12″ off the bottom and wait for a hit.  After an hour of keeping his secret to himself he told me what he was doing and we both had success by simply setting the jig just off the bottom and letting it sit. The strikes were much more aggressive doing this as compared to the conventional jigging action.

Once it was hit so hard he nearly lost his rod! We looked like we were setting mouse traps as we carefully set the rod and adjusted the line depth but it worked surprisingly well! We tried this technique in other areas with success as well but it was particularly effective in the calm bay we fished that morning.” If you get a chance, give that a try and let me know how it works for you!

We are open until October 25th and have some availability remaining

Until next week, good fishing!
Dan Schmidt
