Well, its FINALLY official and news we have all been waiting for since spring of 2020. Following yesterday’s announcement of the Canada/US Border opening August 9, 2021, I find myself almost in tears as I can finally do a newsletter with positivity since the winter of 2019.

First and foremost, I want to thank ALL our loyal and new guests along with Staff from the bottom of our hearts for the unbelievable support we have received since Covid-19 changed the world. Because of all of you, we are beyond excited to WELCOME BACK everyone who are considered family to us.

As the excitement mounds and we are gearing up for the August 9th opening, we wanted to share some of the changes that we are dealt with for those who are still booked, rebooking or wanting to newly book their Fishing adventure of a lifetime with us at Andy Myers Lodge.

Although the announcement of yesterday is more then welcomed news, please keep in mind the Canadian government has announced that the Canadian Border WILL ONLY be open for VACCINATED US Citizens at this point. While I understand Excitement and frustration will be on everyone’s mind, lets all stay very positive that complete Normal is right around the corner and everyone will/can join us again for new memories that will last forever 😊

Following yesterday’s announcement of the border re-opening on August 9th, below is a list of the newly announced entrance requirements for those of you who have scheduled trips this season or are Still hoping to book a last-minute getaway.

Please remember we will do our best to inform all our guests if any new information becomes available or changes. Here is what we know and where we stand now.
Canada will open the border to fully vaccinated Americans and permanent residents of the U.S. for non-essential travel on August 9. The Canadian government is also eliminating the three-night quarantine hotel policy for those arriving by air as of Aug. 9 at 12:01am EDT.

As of Aug. 9, Americans who have been fully vaccinated can travel to Canada without having to quarantine. Travellers must:
• Be fully vaccinated by a vaccine accepted by the Government of Canada, at least 14 days prior to entering Canada;
• meet the pre-entry test requirements; Must provide proof of negative Covid Test 72hrs prior to arriving at the border crossing.
• provide a digital copy of vaccination documentation in English or French;
• provide COVID-19 related information electronically through ArriveCAN app prior to arrival in Canada;
• Provide a quarantine plan and be prepared to quarantine in case border agents determine they do not meet the necessary requirements
• be asymptomatic upon arrival; and
• participate in random COVID-19 testing.

Unvaccinated children under 12 years of age and dependents of fully vaccinated travellers eligible for entry to Canada will be exempt from quarantine.
Provinces and territories may have more stringent rules around people who have recently returned from travel.

As of Aug. 9, international passenger flights will also be allowed in Halifax, Quebec City, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Winnipeg airports (this is in addition to Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Vancouver airports). There will be a ban on direct flights from India until at least August 21 due to concerns about the Delta variant of COVID-19.

Unvaccinated travellers will still be required to follow the mandatory testing and quarantine restrictions, and Canada will continue to prohibit U.S. travellers who are not fully vaccinated and for all other foreign nationals, unless they already meet an exemption set out in the Orders made under the Quarantine Act.

On September 7, Canada intends to open its borders for non-essential travel by travellers from any country who have been fully vaccinated with Government of Canada-accepted vaccines at least 14 days prior to entering Canada and who meet the specific entry requirements. The entry and arrival requirements for fully vaccinated travellers above will also apply.
For more information, please visit Easing border measures for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada – Permitting discretionary travel for citizens and permanent residents of the United States – Canada.ca

The picture above is the Government of Canada’s ArriveCAN app which is a smartphone app, or can be accessed on a desktop/laptop computer. This is the app required to fill out and document the above requirements prior to arrival at the border.

For more clarification about having a quarantine plan which is asked on the ArriveCAN app and required by the Government of Canada, please enter Andy Myers Lodge as your quarantine destination at 1802 Durance Rd. There will be an accommodation for someone to self isolate in a separate location if someone in your group show symptoms or test positive once here. We are however expecting this to be an easy step.

What to expect you ask when you arrive at AML? Well let’s just say you will be sure to find the same enthusiastic, beyond excited staff and owners who are ready to welcome you back more then ever. That being said, we do fully intend to run our operation in a safe effected manner while we still make everyone feel like its 2019 as much as possible.

Please keep in mind all travellers will have to adhere to our local health regulations requiring masking and social distancing. The one thing for certain is we are very fortunate to have a big new lodge and a lot of space on the premises. Laughter and daily stories of the days catch will not be a problem along with our very informative seminars we are known for. However also please keep in mind indoor public spaces such as restaurants, gas stations, stores etc will require masks so I would plan on masking up. I would assume this will be in place until at least the Fall of 2021.
Our staff from cooks, waitresses, dock hands and guides will be 100% following protocol to ensure you have the BEST Fishing adventure of a lifetime while safety is at peace of mind.
Basically, nothing has changed at AML except some improvements to Our 21’ Pro-Staff Guide Boats along with upgraded boats and as always camp maintenance. Some may be very surprised coming up the driveway into Eagle Lakes favourite destination but the excitement will have to wait until its completed. Big things to come 😉 We basically want to pick up where we left off in October 2019 and that is to ensure all of our guests that AML cannot be beat.

August, September and October are 3 great months for Trophy size Walleye, Smallmouth, Lake Trout, Northern and the famous Muskie. Keep in mind every year we run until the ice literally kicks us off the lake into November. We Fully intend to keep that tradition and make new memories

We are very excited for our guests to witness what Eagle Lake has become. For those who thought it was good before get ready because these fish don’t wear masks and are ready to eat!
We have committed to all our guests that deposits given since 2020 WILL be honoured for those who have rebooked and lost their scheduled trips due to Covid-19. Attached you will find our 2020 Brochure with pricing that will also be honoured until the end of 2021 season along with a link to a great website with a ton of info, rates and what to bring at AML.
