Bass Unlimited Foundation has been working hard the past 28 months to position itself so that we can grow into an organization to carry out our mission and purpose. With that in mind we are proud to welcome Mark Boyd to our team as Bass Unlimited Foundation’s Fundraising Coordinator. Mark brings to this position a unique passion and background cultivated by a life-long love of the outdoors and a strong understanding of the fishing industry.

Growing up in Joplin, MO, the Ozarks run deep in Mark’s blood. His love of the outdoors started early, almost the day he was born. Whether it was fishing for trout, bass or catfish, hunting squirrels and rabbits, flushing quail or just hiking the woods and ridges near his home, he relished every moment spent in the outdoors.

In Mark’s teens, he moved to the upper Midwest, to central Minnesota and a whole new set of outdoor adventures. There he discovered walleye fishing, snow shoeing and pheasant hunting.

After high school, some college and a year in broadcasting school, Mark headed to the Great Plains of North Dakota where over the next twenty years he worked in the television industry and spent all his off time taking in the wonderful hunting and fishing opportunities that abound there. It was there that he began to seriously believe he could make a living in the outdoors industry.

Mark began entering walleye fishing tournaments, and after having some success, started writing articles about the sport, sharing tips and stories with anyone who would read them. That led to the TV station he worked for asking him to host a weekly segment in the sports cast sharing his “Fishing Tips and Tricks”. That then expanded into a weekly radio show, “Outdoor Tips and Tricks”, and more writing for various magazines and local area newspapers.

In 1996, Mark was approached by two of the country’s top walleye anglers to be their ghost writer, and soon after that they offered him a job running their blossoming media company. This is where Mark’s knowledge of the business part of the outdoors industry matured.

Over the years Mark has cultivated a well rounded and comprehensive understanding of the outdoors industry, as well as the men and women that participate in outdoors sports and activities. “I’ve even been blessed to have such a relationship of love and respect for the outdoors and for fishing in particular.” says Mark, “I feel mine is a prospective that can benefit Bass Unlimited Foundation by helping them touch that spark that burns inside every outdoors enthusiast.”

We are honored to welcome Mark as a part of the Bass Unlimited team and to have his passion and expertise in bringing our foundation to more and more of the angling public as well as corporations willing to help support our mission.
