Minnesota\u2019s AIM Weekend Walleye Series Warrior Boats opener scheduled for May 17 has fast-forwarded into another AIM double-header event, this time on fish-rich Leech Lake July 11 and 12.<\/p>\n
\u201cTeam and Fan Nation, we\u2019re excited to tell you we\u2019re heading to Leech for two back-to-back Minnesota qualifiers,\u201d announced AIM National Tournament Director Denny Fox.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvent headquarters will be the same we scheduled for July 12 alone, Chase On The Lake, right on Walker Bay.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last July\u2019s qualifier there was won in the main lake with just a fin flick over 38 pounds, but Walker Bay alone is about as good of a patch of walleye water as you\u2019ll find anywhere, capable of producing a 45-pound bag easily.<\/p>\n
Since it will be a double tournament, the purse for two, 100-boat fields could again build to be a combined $51,000 in cash. That\u2019s a total purse that could reach $25,500 each day, with $9,000 going to each of the winning teams.<\/p>\n
Teams registered for the now-canceled opening qualifier on Big Stone Lake May 17 should watch your email for instructions on moving your entry information to the new twin events, Fox said. Registration, team rules meetings and awards will take place using a temporary format that guarantees the tourney will be run in accordance with state COVID-19 safety rules in effect at the time, Fox added.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeantime, while COVID-19 has dealt some big hits to everyone, including tournaments across the world, the AIM team has been working hard since this all came down on some exciting plans that hopefully will turn all this lemon juice into lemonade,\u201d Fox added.<\/p>\n
