Somehow, I had a difficult time envisioning an electric auger cutting the dozens of holes I typically need for a day on the ice. However, I know Genz well and if he said I should give it a try, I took him at his word.<\/p>\n<p>I will admit it was at least a year before I made the purchase. My gas augers had been so trustworthy and such workhorses, I just couldn\u2019t find the incentive to explore a new option.<\/p>\n<p>My first test of the electric auger happened on Clearwater Lake. Charlie Simkins and I were doing some late ice angling on some weed flats.
